Our story begins with a brave and enterprising woman

The origin of Club Hotel Aguamarina starts with the determination and courage of a great woman ahead of her time: our grandmother Mrs. Asunción Guillén Naval, whom we fondly called La Pepa. She was born in Huesca and worked as a teacher in a children's sanatorium in Madrid, where she met the Minorcan Mr. Juan Saura Fargas. In 1936 they got married and once the Spanish Civil War was over, they moved with their two daughters to Menorca, where our grandfather carried out his profession as a doctor in Es Castell, where they lived and raised a large family of 7 children. Unfortunately, in 1959 Juan suddenly died and La Pepa had to bring up her big family with the strength and courage that characterised her.

At the end of 1960’s our grandmother undertook a pioneering project on the island on a plot of land owned by the family, so in 1972 and after much perseverance, she could finally see the inauguration of the Aguamarina and Topacio Hotels, which she named after her two favourite stones.

Located in front of the beautiful bay of Arenal d'en Castell and in an incomparable position, we find what we know today as Club Hotel Aguamarina, home of La Pepa's children and grandchildren. A place of our affection to which we daily give our dedication without forgetting La Pepa, our enterprising grandmother, who fought for this dream for her family and the future of the island.

Today, we are still working to be a benchmark for responsible tourism in Menorca and to ensure that our hotel brings smiles and unforgettable moments to all the guests who are already part of the Club Hotel Aguamarina’s family.
